So ... around 6 months before the day, more if you like, 2 years if you are me, you will start to think about your invitations.
Don't underestimate how long this process takes. As I say to my clients, you are spending a lot of money on this event, everything needs to be perfect. On the basis that most functions are booked at the very least one year in advance, there really is no need for there to be any last minute panics. Traditionally invites used to go out 6 weeks before, however, this is now considered late with most going out 8-12 weeks before the big day. Once we meet over a cup of tea (or glass of wine depending on the time of day) I can show you my portfolio of invitations. There are hundreds to choose from and if you don't see something you like, I will of course come up with something that is totally unique to you. It's certainly not a case of "its this or this" - anything is possible and i keep on designing until everyone is happy. I like to "brand" each function in a unique and interesting way. Creating a logo for the star of the show (the bride and groom or Bar/Batmitzvah child). This will then appear on everything that I produce for the function. Which brings me to my next point ...what can I do .......... the answer is anything! From invites to thank you cards, RSVP cards, lunch cards, escort cards, place cards, menu's, personalised menu's, benchers, t shirt design ... Timescale 6-8 months before We meet, we discuss, I design and email design options. 7 months before Once an invitation design is confirmed and the client is happy to proceed, I ask for a deposit, the client sign terms and conditions and then we are good to go. I then design all ancillary products thank you cards, rsvp, menu's etc. 5 months before Printed proofs produced - I also send the client the database to be filled in with names and addresses. 4 months before Client returns database to me and I set to work finalising/personalising/sending to print. 8-10 weeks before Client collects invites. 4 weeks before Client will database of whose attending - then I can create stage 2 (the escort cards/place cards etc). 1-2 weeks before Collect stage 2 items. So basically the more time you allow me the better, I would always rather you had your invites sitting at home a week early, than you calling me because you have left it to the last minute!! I will nag you!!! So that is pretty much it ... except to say that really you just need to give me a call, pop round and we can take it from there... |
